6 months owning a Kindle Paperwhite - my review!

I've officially had my Kindle Paperwhite for over 6 months so here's my review! If you are contemplating whether or not to purchase one for yourself or maybe you're just interested in knowing then read on!

So I'll start by saying that my overall feeling about this Kindle Paperwhite is good. I really have enjoyed having it and although this was gifted to me, if I had paid for this myself, I have to say, I wouldn't have regretted spending my money on it.

One thing I particularly like is how you can read in the dark with ease. I used to have a Kindle years and years ago, I can't remember which model it was but anyway my old Kindle was a bit of nightmare when it came to bedtime reading. Sometimes you just want to switch off your light and read a good book, which is exactly what you can do with the Paperwhite, but I couldn't do this with my old one and I remember feeling that a lit up screen was one thing I wished it had. The light the Kindle paperwhite has is not a blue light like phones so it doesn't actually cause any eye strain or headaches which is great!

Another thing I love about this Kindle is how light weight it is. When you're holding it, honestly it doesn't even feel like you're holding anything. In my opinion, this is a great thing. It means your hands/wrists don't get tired holding it up and its also easy to transport in your bag when travelling or just walking around town.

Before I continue with more of the things that I really like about the Kindle, I'm just gonna chuck one thing in the mix that does slightly irritate me about it, but I guess this is more a Kindle thing rather than a Paperwhite thing and that thing is that sometimes, not all the time but SOMETIMES, kindle versions of books are more expensive than the hard cover/paperbacks. Obviously, this isn't the end of the world and to combat this, I either simply accept this and buy the paper/hard back instead of the kindle (after all, it is still nice to read a physical book from time to time) or I will ask for that particular book for a birthday or Christmas gift that year. I guess that way, I am not having to spend the extra money for the kindle version or sometimes I don't even have to buy it at all! It's never usually too too much more money anyway to buy the kindle version but just wanted to mention that slight downside.

Another fantastic thing about the Kindle Paperwhite is the battery life. I guess this one completely depends on how often you use your kindle but in general I have found the battery life on this device to be very good. It lasts me absolutely ages! I am yet to take it on holiday with me but I think if I went away for a week somewhere, if I forgot my charger, it wouldn't be too much of an issue as I'm quite confident it would last. I have heard a few people in the comments of my previous kindle videos saying that their Kindle Paperwhite battery life was actually quite poor but I can only speak from my own personal experience of course.

The next thing I love about the Kindle Paperwhite is how it is water resistant. It's nice to be able to read in the bath and also, although I'm still yet to go on holiday or sit by a pool reading, I am excited to know that my kindle will be just fine if it gets splashed. I believe this is a feature unique to the Paperwhite too so I am glad I went for this model - and also the price point is pretty good too for what you get in my opinion.

I could have gone on for longer about more benefits I have found in the paperwhite but I'll stop there as I think I have included the ones I find most important for those who are contemplating buying one to know.
